Gary Marcus: Krispy Kreme beat Nvidia this year, OpenAI could be the WeWork of AI
GaryMarcus · x · 2026-11-08
NYU professor emeritus Gary Marcus told CNBC that Krispy Kreme stock has outperformed Nvidia over the past year, and reiterated his long-held view that OpenAI could be "the WeWork of AI" — potentially forced to sell at a discount to a company like Microsoft.
He argues the current AI selloff is largely psychological: investors are losing faith that generative AI is a rocket while questioning whether chip buyers can turn a profit. When the bear case shifts from valuation to whether the poster child can even go public, sentiment is doing more of the work than earnings.
