IETF Publishes RFC 10073 for Composite ML-DSA Hybrid Signatures in X.509 PKI
jedisct1 · x · 2026-11-08
IETF has published RFC 10073, a Proposed Standard defining Composite ML-DSA — a PQ/T hybrid signature scheme that combines NIST's post-quantum ML-DSA with legacy algorithms (RSASSA-PKCS1-v15, RSASSA-PSS, ECDSA, Ed25519, Ed448) for X.509/PKIX. The combos hedge against ML-DSA breaks or catastrophic bugs and tailor to regional regulatory guidelines. Authors come from Entrust, Cisco, Bundesdruckerei and others; it grew out of the LAMPS working group draft.
