Stanford prof: AIxBio is enriched with grifters, integrity badly lacking
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-11-08
Stanford professor Anshul Kundaje and builder RecursiveChris debated hype in AI×bio. Kundaje clarifies he doesn't call every founder a grifter, but says the field shows a strong enrichment of fakes overhyping capabilities — and when buyers try things that don't deliver, it poisons perception of the whole field. Chris pushed back that not all founders are grifters and academics also underdeliver on grant aims; what matters is pushing the frontier with honesty even if bets fail.
