LeCun resurfaces old critique: Altman, Hassabis, Amodei are lobbying for AI regulatory capture
ylecun · x · 2026-11-08
Yann LeCun re-shared his three-year-old post arguing that Altman, Hassabis, and Amodei are doing massive corporate lobbying and attempting regulatory capture of the AI industry. He warned that if the fear-mongering campaigns of Hinton, Bengio, and Russell succeed, it would inevitably lead to a catastrophe of a different kind: a small number of companies controlling AI. He added that the vast majority of academic colleagues support open AI R&D, with the doomsday proponents being vocal but isolated exceptions.
