Judge lets Claude Max "misleading usage promises" class action against Anthropic proceed

Judge Alex G. Tse ruled Anthropic's "5x/20x more usage than Pro" pitch is "plausibly misleading," letting a proposed class action by two subscribers proceed over Claude Max usage limits.
- Dispute centers on two-tier limits: per-session and weekly caps. Plaintiffs say Max multipliers apply per session but weekly allowances are far lower — for Sonnet 4, Max 5x gives only 3.5x Pro's weekly usage, Max 20x about 6x
- Kahn found fully using Max 20x in one five-hour window burned 15% of his weekly allotment; Smith had to "ration or postpone usage" after upgrading
- Plans in question: $100/mo Max 5x and $200/mo Max 20x (renamed Max and Ultra on Oct 30); Pro costs $17–20/mo. Some claims were dismissed with leave to refile; no class certified yet
