Eric Iverson's J Primer is now available in ChapterPal's collection of open textbooks. J is a highly terse array programming language developed in the early 1990s by Kenneth E. Iverson (creator of APL) and Roger Hui, designed for mathematical, statistical, and logical data analysis with exceptional strength in matrix and large-scale dataset handling.
ChapterPal offers two versions: the author's original (2011, partially revised 2023) and its own updated/corrected edition (2026), both paired with an AI tutor.
