Anthropic details 'dreaming': offline compute that organizes Claude's memory
blaizedsouza · x · 2026-11-07
Anthropic's new engineering post explains how "dreaming" — offline compute — organizes Claude's memory, per author Lance Martin: it can correct mistakes, create memories, and build new representations.
The memory stack has layers: searchable transcripts, salient memory notes written by Claude, memory representations computed from transcripts/notes (e.g. wikis), and injected context loaded every session. Dreaming runs offline over these layers, letting Claude learn from experience and retrieve what it needs more easily next time.
