"AI will decimate the middlemen": the hidden tax of queues, approvals and billable hours
SydSteyerhart · x · 2026-11-07
SydSteyerhart (36K followers) argues that for most of history we paid a severe "tax on being human": a week to hear back from a lawyer, $300 for a form, useless support calls, indifferent doctors.
Much of the economy, he says, is sitting in queues, inboxes, approvals, and middlemen billing hours for minutes of work — slack that was invisible and expensive because there was no alternative. AI now provides one: instant diagnosis, expert legal advice, and unlimited paperwork. "It will decimate the middlemen. And everyone is losing their mind."
