Yoav Goldberg: AI-generated peer reviews are breaking academic publishing
yoavgo · x · 2026-11-07
Notable NLP researcher Yoav Goldberg argues the academic review system is indeed breaking (partly due to AI), but there's a healthy way and a broken way to use LLMs in it: reviewers who use models as aids while keeping their own judgment and writing reviews manually are fine; the real trouble starts when the AC receives reviews fully generated by AI. He adds it's sad that such papers/reviews weren't automatically rejected before being passed on to three human judges.
