Reddit debate: specialized small models in cooperative systems may beat giant omni-models on safety
FLTR069 · reddit · 2026-11-07
A Reddit user argues that labs train omnipotent models on the entire Internet only for users to narrow them back down via system prompts, while misuse and misalignment carry existential risks. Instead, they propose an economy-style division of labor: small models specialized in law, medicine, etc., combined into collaborative multi-model systems. This compartmentalization would make safety guardrails much easier to implement than solving alignment outright, while potentially cutting energy costs and improving output quality. An AGI-route debate with active discussion in the comments.
