Gemini Flash extraction output changes between runs; should he switch to docling?
lucasbennett_1 · reddit · 2026-11-07
A developer reports that a text-step + prompt + Gemini Flash pipeline for contract extraction gives a different end date on a second run, and some fields come back blank even when the value is present. The text dump is identical each time, so the nondeterminism appears to come from the model itself — and temperature tuning isn't an option, since Gemini's API docs say it's ignored on 3.6 Flash and newer. He is considering swapping the text step for dedicated parsing tools like docling or llamaparse to stabilize results.
