Dario Amodei: consumer AI video is mostly "fake, addictive slop" — Anthropic isn't rushing in
MonkeyBoyPoop · reddit · 2026-11-07
Dario Amodei explained why Anthropic isn't chasing consumer video/image generation:
- "Google and OpenAI are fighting it out in consumer. It's existential to both — to OpenAI because that's their whole business, to Google because of search."
- "For enterprise, there's no demand for cats riding donkeys. If we ever need it, we can just contract a model from someone else."
- "A lot of short-form video is fake, pretty addictive, and slop. It's not a market I'm tripping over myself to get involved in."
The poster quips that this might explain why Claude is so compliant at generating slop — Anthropic simply doesn't care about competing there.
