Jon Barron pushes back on Dario: Claude is already trained for video generation via tool use
jon_barron · x · 2026-11-07
Google researcher Jon Barron responded to Dario Amodei's remarks on skipping video generation:
- Claude has clearly been trained for video generation indirectly, via tool use with Blender and vector graphics; at most Dario's claim is about the representations used.
- The "no enterprise market" framing doesn't hold: saying "we want to focus on something else" is a better narrative, but the TAM for video generation is probably $50-100B per year, so claiming there's no enterprise market is a strange take — likely post-hoc rationalization.
