Steve Jobs on obsolescence: no Principia in this field, just sedimentary layers
phroo · x · 2026-11-07
phroo shares a classic Steve Jobs quote: Apple II is obsolete, Apple I long ago, and the Macintosh is on the verge. "This is a field where one does not write a Principia that holds up for 200 years... you do your work and in 10 years it's obsolete. It's like sediment of rocks — you contribute your little layer to make the mountain higher, but no one on the surface will see it. It's not like the Renaissance at all." Strikingly apt amid today's rapid AI iteration.
