FlexiTac hits CoRL 2026, releases FlexiTac-Gen for AI-assisted tactile sensor design

FlexiTac has been accepted to the CoRL 2026 Demo Track and released FlexiTac-Gen, an open tool built with AI agents that lets researchers design custom tactile sensors and export fabrication files — answering two years of customization requests. The adjacent OpenTac-CAD team celebrated the momentum and proposed working out a manifest standard for interoperability across sensors (OpenTac, FlexiTac, etc.). OpenTac-CAD generates a sensor from a 2D outline or a surface on a 3D model, auto-places taxels, routes rows/columns, checks fabrication rules, and exports flex-PCB files, a 3D-printable case, and a geometry/wiring manifest; it supports DXF/STL import, exact dimension input, and natural-language design via a hosted chat assistant or your own coding agent with an OpenTac skill.
