Porffor, a JS engine rebuilt as an ahead-of-time compiler through C, released its first Node-compatible version. It passes 96.8% of Effect's test suite, compiles 76.8% of 1,295 popular npm packages, fits 1,144 apps per GB of memory (40x Node containers), and ships single-file binaries as small as 2.6 MB vs 137 MB for Node — though runtime performance is still worse.
