OpenAI Agents API October drop: auto review, scheduled automations, mid-session tool swaps
OpenAIDevs · x · 2026-11-07
OpenAI's dev account recapped a batch of October updates to the Agents API:
- auto review: automatically approve/deny supported agent actions, like Codex's "review for me"
- automations: schedule future and recurring work ("check on x every hour")
- mid-session tool updates: change available tools while a session runs
- Artifact SDK: hosted sandboxes better at spreadsheets, decks, and Word docs
- (experimental) time awareness: agents understand time, e.g. "do x in <10 mins"
- sandbox prewarming: prewarm sandboxes to speed up expensive setup
- More updates and beta features in the full thread
