Vercel Tracing goes GA on all plans, enabled by default in Next.js 16.5
cramforce · x · 2026-11-07
Vercel announced that Tracing is now generally available on all plans, with pricing unchanged from the beta.
- A dedicated Traces page lets you browse, filter, and search every trace and span across a project or team, with Spans/Traces list views and Kibana Query Language support (e.g. span.name:db AND span.duration > 500 to find slow database spans). A Live mode streams new traces as they arrive.
- The same KQL queries run unchanged in the CLI via vercel traces search --query, plus vercel traces inspect <request-id> for single traces and vercel traces config for sampling rules.
- Starting with Next.js 16.5, new projects get tracing enabled by default.
Malte Ubl showcased an agentic workflow: have an agent set up tracing, deploy, then check the traces hours later and optimize the top 5 opportunities—turning observability data into a self-improving agent loop.
