Sudo mode verification revamp: passkey-first UX, inbox deep links, paste capture
JohnPhamous · x · 2026-11-07
A developer shared an annotated redesign of sudo mode identity verification flows:
- Dual paths for passkey/password-manager/device password vs. authenticator codes, remembering user preference and de-emphasizing the other option going forward
- Icons plus descriptions clarify where the 6-digit code was sent (authenticator vs. email) to prevent checking the wrong place
- Email flow upgrades: MX-record lookup surfaces an inbox deep link (e.g., open Gmail) to grab the code quickly, and paste events are captured even when the input isn't focused
- Sensitive actions explain why verification friction is being added, with expandable rationale
