Google Merchant Center auto-launched a 15% sitewide promo a merchant never approved

A merchant discovered Google Merchant Center had silently opted them into "Automatic Promotion Updates," which created and approved a 15% off sitewide promotion running six months (Nov 2026–May 2027) — despite no such discount existing on their site.
Screenshots show the promotion marked "modified by Google" with policy and SKU reviews approved and status live. Removing the feature requires manually opting out in the Merchant Center UI. E-commerce and paid-search practitioners should audit their accounts for this setting.
