Solo dev used Claude to build an in-game Studio mode that ships to players

A solo developer building the arcade battle-racer OVERSTEER used Claude to create an in-game Studio mode for capturing slow-mo replays and gameplay trailers — shipping as a player-facing feature so users can record cinematic clips too.
He expected the mode to be a one-shot generation, but it took extensive fine-tuning to make VFX elements behave identically in Studio mode as in-game. Over 7 months he has been using AI to aid game development while hand-tuning every detail. The game features 8 unlockable cars, 45+ abilities, and an infinite track builder with a companion sharing site.
