AI bots hit a site 5x more than humans: 1.23M requests, ChatGPT needs ~100 fetches per visitor
marclou · x · 2026-11-06
TrustMRR shared 30-day stats on AI bot traffic:
- 1.23M verified bot requests, about 4.4 per human visitor — 5x the human traffic (278K)
- OpenAI alone made 606K requests; the trend chart shows ChatGPT 1M, Claude 126.9K, Gemini 38.8K over Jun–Oct
- Conversion is tiny: ChatGPT fetched 238K pages for only 2,591 referral visitors; Claude's 68K fetches brought just 58 visitors
Takeaway: AI agents perform 100–1000 fetches per referred visitor, a massive crawl-to-referral imbalance.
