RAME Code: open-source VS Code coding agent runs local Muse Glimmer 30B with permission-controlled tools
acaimari · reddit · 2026-11-06
Developer acaimari released RAME Code, an Apache-2.0 VS Code extension built at the Meta Global AI Developer Hackathon, exploring how far a locally running Meta Muse Glimmer 30B can go as a coding agent. The extension provides web search and page-fetch tools with explicit user permissions, versioned user-approved memory, and resumable "Missions" validated by host-controlled acceptance checks rather than the model's claims. It runs via LM Studio, llama.cpp, or Ollama endpoints. Current v0.2.0 is experimental (built in 4 days) with known bugs; the author seeks feedback on tool calling and context management for smaller local models.
