Building a pure-code lightbulb with Claude: WebGL shader, MediaPipe tracking and self-made test videos
ramramlab · reddit · 2026-11-06
A Reddit user built a 'lit lightbulb' effect where the bulb stays off and the glow is painted entirely by a WebGL shader, with MediaPipe tracking hands and body so the light lands correctly — all built conversationally with Claude. Notable workflow: since Claude couldn't see the webcam, it generated fake camera videos (moving, blurred, distant stickers plus decoys) and regression-tested every change in a headless browser before deploying to GitHub Pages. Clear glass was too hard to track, so a green sticker marks the bulb; the author asks for ideas on detecting clear bulbs in the dark.
