Vibe-Coded Space Game Hits Day 6: AI NPCs, Seamless Spaceflight, Open Repo
Abject-Tomorrow-652 · reddit · 2026-11-06
A Redditor is vibe-coding a space game with the Claude Code desktop app and Godot engine, now on day 6, posting daily builds to Google Drive with the repo open on GitHub for PRs.
Community-driven adjustments: bug fixes, story mode and lag improvements, a low-graphics mode, an IP-neutral repo rename, and scope narrowing — no new planets/weapons/enemies until the core free-roam loop is solid.
Three features the author claims are unique in combination:
- NPCs that talk back: an AI cantina owner answering based on real game state; NPCs with tools to advance plot, give quests, and guards that can search you
- Social/stealth smuggling: checkpoints, searches, bribes cheaper after dark or when friendly with guards
- One seamless loop: on foot → cockpit → orbit → star cruiser with no loading screens
Workflow: a long voice-mode planning session with Opus 5.5, local Qwen 3.5 27B for the data layer foundation, Opus and Sonnet for models/lighting/graphics, and Fable opening performance issues on GitHub for Opus to pick up. Next up: an AI NPC generator for custom-designed characters.
