Critics: Anthropic's redactions won't stop adversaries, only undermine its own credibility
JeffLadish · x · 2026-11-06
Nathan Calvin points out an irony in Anthropic's heavy redactions: frontier labs' security is "swiss cheese" outside model weights anyway (e.g. Cathedral had access to Anthropic Slack), so a capable adversary like China could likely get the info regardless. The redactions mostly prevent good-faith observers, skeptics, and governments from evaluating Anthropic's claims about imminent risks — undermining its credibility instead of protecting IP. Jeff Ladish agrees this is unfortunately correct.
