The JupyterHealth / Edge Medicine team at UC Berkeley won a $10 million multiyear Moonshot Prize from the Laude Institute, one of four labs sharing $40 million in the inaugural Moonshots // ONE competition.
The team will build open-source health data infrastructure to bring proactive, preventive AI-powered healthcare ("Edge Medicine") into people's daily lives, beyond the clinic. Key collaborators include Ida Sim, Fernando Pérez (co-creator of Project Jupyter), and Jessilyn Dunn (Duke) working on sensors and digital biomarkers.
The team has previously testified before the California Assembly on the Edge Medicine vision and runs an Edge Medicine Innovation Challenge for seed-stage ideas. The PI says they will hire 1-2 PhD students this cycle.
