Thomas Dietterich: AI is being crammed into UX, and first impressions suffered
tdietterich · x · 2026-11-06
AI researcher Thomas Dietterich pushes back on Dean Ball over why AI adoption feels rocky: it's not just infrastructure — end users feel AI is being crammed into every UX without careful thought about which use cases actually benefit. He argues the industry should have identified an amazingly good use case first and built outward, noting the first experience many users had was disappointing or negative, such as deepfakes. He adds that we already know how to make AI features discoverable without turning them into barriers or distractions.
