Open-source GFQL now 40-180x faster than Neo4j: 2M-edge pipeline drops from 12s to 0.2s
bigdata · x · 2026-11-06
The Graphistry team shared progress on GFQL, their open-source graph query engine: a further 2-3x speedup over Neo4j+GDS on graph pipelines in recent months, now 40-180x faster overall. Benchmarks: a 2M-edge pipeline runs in 0.2s vs Neo4j's 12s; 30M edges in 2s vs 6 minutes. Positioned as "graph compute for agents and applications," it's a vectorized CPU/GPU engine (NVIDIA RAPIDS) supporting Cypher and dataframe queries. Install via pip install graphistry — no database required, works on tables from 100 rows to 2B rows. The image shows a full degree-filter + PageRank workflow done in one GFQL query vs multi-step Cypher.
