CS needs disobedience: hackers push back as seniors stop reading code
fkasummer · x · 2026-11-06
Quoting a post lamenting that senior engineers no longer read or write code — which is 'killing the spirit' of juniors — fkasummer argues that computer science requires some disobedience. That was obvious when hacker culture was still real, long before it got digested and mollified through hackathons and the like. His take: it's time to bring that spirit back.
The exchange captures a real anxiety in the AI-coding era: as agents write the code, who reviews it, and who still understands what's underneath?
