Cadence: open-source MIT studio where product videos are React scenes edited by agents
arthurmonney · reddit · 2026-11-06
Cadence is a locally-run, MIT-licensed studio where a video is a list of scenes and each scene is a React component rendering frames over time. Describe changes in plain words and an agent (Claude Code or Codex) edits the scene, renders frames to verify its own work, and live-updates the preview.
Key features:
- Brand kits auto-built from a site or repo (colors, fonts, UI components)
- Scenes are pure functions of time — identical frames anywhere
- Transitions (fade/slide/wipe/flip), path morphing, 3D stages, camera, motion blur
- Own video clips/GIFs, Lottie, WebGL and three.js
- Reads the music's beat grid to snap cuts to bars; sound effects declared next to scene code
- Renders to MP4, WebM, ProRes, GIF, PNG in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5
