Box launches Box Content Retrieval with agentic platform and MCP support at BoxWorks

At BoxWorks, Box announced Box Content Retrieval, with CTO Ben Kus presenting. Slides position Box as an "Intelligent Content Management" platform built around a new Agentic Platform layer: customizable agents, model-agnostic, enterprise-grade agent harness, context retrieval, agent guardrails and prompt injection defense — exposed via APIs, CLI, SDK, and MCP.
The keynote framed three enterprise agent pain points Box aims to solve: agents working with wrong content versions, agents leaking data from content, and agents needing interoperable access to content — with Box's governance stack (permissions, classifications, audit trails, PII scanning, ransomware protection) as the moat for enterprise agent content access.
