Open-source clayview rebuilds Tesla-style clay 3D street views from dashcam footage
theteknosaur · x · 2026-11-06
Developer snehanchakravarthi open-sourced clayview, a Python pipeline + Three.js viewer that turns dashcam clips into a Tesla-style matte clay 3D view of traffic: every car, truck, bus, motorcycle, bicycle and person placed on a rebuilt street, played side by side with the original video.
- Stack covers camera calibration, optical flow, semantic segmentation, object tracking and YOLO
- Started as a Raspberry Pi attempt to replicate Tesla's visualizations, evolved into this project
- Explicitly a toy, not a driver aid; AGPL-3.0, run it on your own footage
