GitHub MCP server to replace server instructions with Agent Skills, aiming to save tokens
DanWahlin · x · 2026-11-06
Maintainers of the GitHub MCP server announced they will replace server instructions with Agent Skills, which they consider a better fit and more token-efficient.
They are soliciting community skills and feedback in a GitHub discussion; users can build from source via the PR and test in any agent supporting skills over MCP. The feature will ship to insiders soon, with the team aiming for a high-quality skills catalog at launch.
