NYU Shanghai's Centre for AI and Culture (AIC) is inviting applications for a one- or two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship supervised by Dr. Bogna Konior; first-round submissions are due December 1st, 2026 to [email protected].
The centre studies the philosophical and cultural implications of AI, drawing on analytic and continental philosophy, media theory, and the history of science. This round seeks a scholar-writer working on the conceptual history of nonhuman intelligence, grounded in Eastern European or East Asian traditions — topics include cross-cultural concepts of artifice and automation, spiritual/theological traditions relevant to technology, and regional philosophies of technological change. They explicitly want a brilliant essayist, not just a traditional researcher.
