Open-source Kindle helper turns epubs into bilingual books over WiFi
vista8 · x · 2026-11-05
Developer vista8 open-sourced a macOS app, Qiaomu Kindle Helper: drag in an epub, get a bilingual edition, and send it over WiFi straight to a Kindle running KOReader — no cable needed.
- Includes ebook translation with configurable LLM backends (DeepSeek, OpenAI, Gemini, Kimi, Qwen, Doubao, local Ollama)
- Works standalone as an epub translation tool without a Kindle
- Author notes fixing terminology and proper nouns in prompts notably improves translation quality
