Anthropic built Scion, replacing Git: daily merges grew from 2,500 to 30,000 in months
davilagrau · x · 2026-11-05
Anthropic's engineering blog details Scion, an in-house version control system that replaced Git in its monorepo in five months. Daily code merges grew from 2,500 in May 2026 to over 30,000 by September. The team also shipped a code review surface (Antique), code search, and a source-control IAM system. Key thesis: Claude's coding ability both created the scale problem and enabled building the solution — AI now writes code faster than human-scale developer infrastructure can handle.
