DeepSeek's open stack mapped: 10 building blocks from V4.1-Flash to 3FS — and what's missing
TheTuringPost · x · 2026-11-05
Turing Post maps DeepSeek's open-source AI stack for building your own agent: DeepSeek Harness (dsh) for tool connection and agent sessions; DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash and other models with weights and architecture docs; DeepInfer inference engine with internal KV management; 3FS distributed file system for data and checkpoints; deepseek-recipe for translating API requests into prompts and parsing responses; and optimized kernels — FlashMLA (attention), DeepGEMM (matrix ops), DeepEP (inter-accelerator data movement), DeepJIT (runtime kernel compile/cache), TileKernels (routing/quantization). A companion chart lists what's NOT included: a complete serving system (service-level cache, vision/prefill-decode separation, replica balancing), a deployable DSec platform (paper only), an audited production harness (still an unaudited dev preview), and self-hosted DeepSeek search (Search & Fetch are hosted APIs). Scope as of October 2026: open components, not a turnkey system.
