recalc: an open-source spreadsheet where each cell runs a Claude Code agent over MCP
0xcontext · reddit · 2026-11-05
A developer open-sourced recalc, a spreadsheet app driven by Claude Code, with terminals communicating via MCP.
- Each cell works as a normal spreadsheet entry, or as a shell command / its own agent, continuable later in a full terminal session
- Sessions talk to each other through a background MCP server; the author found the spreadsheet layout limits how much context flows through a single session, reducing waste
- Works with existing Claude Code plans since it's just glued terminal sessions
- Author previously built an AI-in-tax startup, so ships tax and legal workflow examples
- Demo: building "FDA Bench" — testing whether an AI harness without web search could predict FDA approval outcomes from submission data past model cutoffs; Fable was right 75% of the time in a small sample
