Solo dev's Claude-built storefront: nearly static shop, Google Sheet as product CMS, Vercel hosting
aloncarmel · x · 2026-11-05
Israeli developer aloncarmel explains why he builds and runs small e-commerce shops with Claude instead of investing in Shopify:
- The storefront is essentially static — almost nothing is managed in a shop backend
- Product management lives in a Google Sheet or similar; no dedicated admin needed
- The app itself is tiny, runs on Vercel with almost no database; Supabase only if truly required
- For a small shop selling a few products, Shopify's complexity adds no value
- Mobile: everything is built mobile-first by default; he hasn't touched dedicated adaptation in 3 years
- Accessibility (Israeli state requirements): solvable with a small JS plugin — or just "tell Claude to close that gap"
Takeaway: with Claude available, technicians no longer need heavyweight platforms for small shops.
