How the Together Compiler works: persistent engines, agent message boards, and a parallelism cost model
simran_s_arora · x · 2026-11-05
The Together Compiler's edge comes from three contributions targeting the throughput-fidelity tradeoff head-on: (1) A Tiered Persistent Engine paradigm where the engine starts once and hot-reloads any candidate forward pass without restarts, with multiple agents continuously generating ideas and coordinating via a message board; (2) A parallelism cost model—measuring every parallel config is intractable since implementations are often immature, so naive selection by raw hardware specs or microbenchmarks fails (thread continues).
