IBM launches AI coding assistant named "Bob", devs can't stop laughing
zeeg · x · 2026-11-05
Sentry CEO David Cramer shared a screenshot of "IBM Bob" — IBM's new AI-powered coding assistant — with the caption "lol ibm stop playin". The landing page introduces Bob as an AI development partner that works alongside you in your codebase to build quality software faster, complete with a hard-hat robot mascot, free trial, and download buttons.
The name instantly rang bells for developers, and the retro enterprise branding made it an instant joke in the AI community.
