Ai2 and Google Advance NeuralGCM+: AI Climate Emulation Gets Faster
allen_ai · x · 2026-11-05
Ai2 announced its collaboration with Google on NeuralGCM+. Its existing ACE (Ai2 Climate Emulator) has already sped up climate simulations considerably.
Priorities going forward:
- 🌊 Couple atmosphere, ocean, and sea ice
- 🌡️ Add physics and test warmer climates
- 💻 Release models, frameworks, and documented workflows; improve GPU performance
The long-term ambition is a shared research platform that climate modeling labs and scientists can use and improve together, helping communities plan for a changing climate.
