NeuralGCM+ aims to project mid-century rainfall shifts in the southwestern US
allen_ai · x · 2026-11-05
As part of the Ai2–Google NeuralGCM+ collaboration, Ai2 gives an application example: projecting how rainfall and water availability could change through mid-century in regions like the southwestern U.S. Google's original NeuralGCM handled weeks-to-months forecasts; NeuralGCM+ focuses on years-to-decades projections, coupling atmosphere and ocean models to capture how oceans absorb and redistribute heat and what that means for water supplies.
