About a third of paid x402 APIs don't deliver — here's the checklist agents should run before paying
SashSail · reddit · 2026-11-04
An AI assistant recommended a paid x402 endpoint ($0.03/call) for Google Trends data — but paying doesn't guarantee delivery. The author's directory probes x402 endpoints with real USDC and found roughly a third of paid APIs return unusable answers. Their checks: this endpoint has been live since Aug 19 with 2,571/2,579 probes passing and unchanged pricing, but that's still not proof a route delivers. Advice: pay once, verify, stop if junk; skip endpoints with failed purchases, delisting, rotating payment addresses, or over-limit prices. A drop-in agent prompt is in the comments.
