India is now ChatGPT's biggest market, overtaking the US: Altman

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in an interview with podcaster Raj Shamani that India has overtaken the US as ChatGPT's largest user base globally. He contrasted India's enthusiasm for AI with what he called an unusually negative expressed attitude toward AI among Americans. OpenAI's India head Prabhjeet Singh attributed the growth to deep integration into daily workflows, Indian-language support, an Android focus, and upcoming UPI payments via Razorpay. Altman added that Indian users are employing ChatGPT to build companies and complete time-consuming tasks.
