Baseten launches Grid router, Loops laptop-based fine-tuning, and VM-isolated agent Sandboxes
baseten · x · 2026-11-04
Inference platform Baseten announced three launches covering the full stack of AI products:
- Grid: enterprise gateway, intelligent router, and guardrails that route requests by quality and price and unify AI spend (Opendoor routes every AI request through it).
- Loops: serverless SFT and RL on frontier open-weight models—training can be launched from a laptop and deployed straight to dedicated inference (used by Datadog; OpenEvidence trains models that outperform the closed frontier).
- Sandboxes: stateful, VM-isolated agent environments built on the Blaxel acquisition, scaling to thousands of instances in seconds.
Baseten argues AI is now an ecosystem of building blocks—inference, training, routing, governance, sandboxes—not just token generation.
