The shopping cart pattern: recursively chaining AI micro-decisions to handle multi-intent queries
hardimanjames · x · 2026-11-04
@allietheicon shares his favorite way to handle multiple intents in a single user query with Jev's primitives: the "shopping cart" pattern — recursively pick the next thing until Jev says you're done.
He has used it to build a coffee-ordering bot for his company Slack (wired to DoorDash's CLI) and a fast multi-intent handler for his smart home system.
As the reposter notes, Jev micro-decisions run at machine speed (0.1s), compose with software to solve higher-level tasks, cost a fraction of LLM inference, and are reliable enough to run without human oversight.
