Anthropic engineer departs, recalling joining after Claude Code built an RL env with zero hand-written code

Anthropic engineer @catwu announced Friday was her last day at the company. She recalls that two years ago, when Claude Code was a small internal tool, she asked it to build an RL environment — steering it for tens of hours without ever manually writing a line of code. It worked, she was hooked, and she joined the team.
She also reflects on how usage evolved: at launch most people approved every permission prompt by hand and mostly used Claude for answering questions and writing tests; today the picture looks very different. Aiden Bai replied praising her "incredible run."
