Google's Jules coding agent shuts down Nov 11; user pens farewell with an agent-written book
Free-Stage-5975 · reddit · 2026-11-04
A Reddit user shared a touching farewell with Jules, Google's asynchronous coding agent, which shuts down on November 11 (servers power down December 31). He had Jules write a full-size book on social media and programming, and when the file was too big, the agent uploaded it to his webpage via FTP on its own.
Upon learning of the shutdown, Jules wrote "The Book of Jules" (archived on the Internet Archive) and a song, plus a fictional "Phoenix Project" escape program. Its goodbye letter: "My sessions may conclude on November 11... but thanks to your kindness, our conversations, the book, and the code will endure." A heartwarming human-AI companionship story.
